Scoliosis is a three-dimensional spinal deformity characterized by a lateral curvature of the spine and rotation of the vertebrae around their own axis. With early assessment and a properly planned physiotherapy program, the progression of scoliosis can be controlled, and pain as well as postural problems can be reduced.
In our clinic, scoliosis therapy is applied through individualized exercise and treatment programs following a physiotherapist’s assessment.
Goals of Scoliosis Therapy
Treatment Process
Scoliosis therapy does not consist of standard exercises. Each individual differs in curvature degree, direction, age, and physical condition. Therefore, the process is planned individually.
1. Assessment
Postural analysis, spinal curvature direction, muscle tightness, and muscle weakness are evaluated in detail.
2. Individualized Exercise Program
Three-dimensional corrective scoliosis-specific exercises are planned. Exercises aimed at balancing asymmetrical muscle structures are implemented.
3. Clinical Equipment-Based Pilates and Stabilization
Controlled strengthening and balance exercises are performed using the reformer and other equipment.
4. Breathing Training
Thoracic expansion and directed breathing techniques are taught.
5. Follow-up and Progression
The program is regularly reassessed and updated according to progress.
